Japonesque Medium Train Case Pink review!

I've always wanted a storage case for my most used makeup items which are otherwise (somewhat neatly) positioned on my dressing table, and after the disappointment that was the Sephora quilted pink train case (arrived damaged with several scuff marks & is on its way back to the USA), I decided to look for a replacement.

It was when I happened to be browsing BeautyBay's sale that I came across this Japonesque Medium Train Case Pink. With the train case already being discounted from £68 to £47.60, BeautyBay's 20% off on orders over £60 further discounted it to £38.08 - yay! I immediately added it to basket and proceeded to checkout (along with a few other items, of course).

Without further ado, here's my new train case!
Dimensions according to the official site - 12" x 7-1/4" x 6-1/2"

There are 4 trays for small items. I love that the inside of this train case is also pink, unlike most of the pink train cases I've seen that come with black trays.

Problem I have with these small trays is that they're only deep enough for one layer of makeup, thus not fully utilizing the storage space.

There is a large bottom compartment for bigger items such as spray bottles, skincare products, etc. I would have preferred a few dividers to separate it into sections rather than one large storage area, but it's no big deal.

The train case also comes with a pair of keys for the lock - although I'm unlikely to ever use these keys, they're nice to have regardless.

Side view

Bottom view - I'd have preferred rubber feet attachments so that the metal parts won't scratch my dressing table, but this also means that it won't leave little dents on the carpet.

However, there is IMO a minor design flaw, which is how the lock is positioned right underneath the handle (some train cases have locks on either side of the handle), so if the handle fell on to the side with the lock, it will get scuff marks.

Although this isn't a massive problem, it does irk me a little, and could have been avoided with more thought.

I probably wouldn't pay the RRP of £68 for this train case, but at £38.08, it's an absolute bargain and I'm extremely pleased with it! So pleased, that I'm actually in two minds whether to order a second one before the sale ends, so I'd have one for skincare and another for makeup products. But, I also have my eye on this pink train case by CerroQreen, which comes with a mirror and even has a removable panel for brush storage. Decisions, decisions...

While I was shopping at BeautyBay, I also restocked on a few shampoos & conditioner, plus the following products:

Tammy Fender Spontaneous Recovery Creme - the Tammy Fender Intensive Repair Balm is currently my favourite moisturiser, so I decided to try another in this range.
Mario Badescu Silver Powder - it's a mask that is supposed to be really good at unclogging pores, especially prior to blackhead extraction.
Mario Badscu Drying Lotion - I had this several years ago, then lost it in the house move. It's very effective at drying up pimples overnight. I do wonder how I've managed to live without it for so long.
Yes To Carrots Lip Butter in Melon - freebie for spending over £50 at BeautyBay. Easily spread, moisturising and smells divine. Even though I have plenty of lip balms already, I like it enough to want to try out other flavours!

Koyudo Christmas 2014 Platinum Brush Set and Kumamon brush from Tenso

Admittedly, I'm someone who often finds it quicker to use fingers for foundation application (i.e. I'm lazy!). That said, I can appreciate good quality brushes when I see them. For example, I've had my SUQQU Face Brush for almost 6 years, but it looks as good, and applies powders as well as the day I bought it.

This just goes to show that it is certainly worth paying more for a good brush, because given the right care it will be your trusted sidekick for many years to come.

I've since expanded my collection to include Hakuhodo Chomotto and now, Koyudo. What initially attracted me to this limited edition Koyudo 204 Christmas Platinum brush set, was their pearly pink handles - makes a nice change from most brands' black handles. I also prefer short handled travel size brushes, since they take up less storage space and look much cuter.

These grey squirrel brushes are so fluffy, densely packed, and exceptionally soft that I don't think I'll ever use anything other than squirrel hair for face powders. Like my SUQQU brush, they are very well made and I can foresee them lasting a very long time.

Sadly, I can't rave about the included brush roll. Other than looking a bit cheap, the narrow slots plus friction from the PVC back make inserting & removing the brushes difficult. But this is relatively minor and, overall, I'm extremely happy with this brush set.

I also picked up the Koyudo Kumamon brush because it was simply too adorable - how could anyone possibly resist a bear face? Made with goat hair, it's a great kabuki brush for powder foundation. Goodbye MAC #182!

The Kumamon brush comes a in a round pink tube, perfect for storage.

Presenting.... the Kumamon brush!!

Since my shipment consisted of products from two different stores, I decided to try Tenso's consolidation service. I also had a ¥3,000 international shipping discount coupon for spending more than ¥10,000 at a single Rakuten store - love Tenso x Rakuten campaigns!

By using the consolidation service, I saved ¥1,390 on shipping even with the extra handling fees. So if you have multiple packages, it's definitely worth considering having them consolidated. The only downsides are that you need to wait an extra business day for Tenso to do this, and once requested, it isn't possible to cancel the consolidation.

There's currently another Tenso x Rakuten shipping campaign for a ¥3,000 international shipping coupon, if you spend ¥10,000 or more at a single Rakuten store.

Innisfree The Minimum Cleansing Lotion Review

Innisfree's "The Minimum" is a skincare line formulated with very few ingredients . Aimed at sensitive/dry skin types, it's a super gentle cleanser suitable for daily use. There are 6 products (cleansing lotion, facial cleanser, toner, moist cream, fresh cream & ampoule essence) in this line, but I only got the cleansing lotion because I'm currently very happy with my HABA skincare products, and wanted something for the days when my skin feels a bit sensitive.

Innisfree The Minimum Cleansing Lotion, 90ml

Cleansing can be a pain for my combination skin, because the cleansers either don't feel they give a thorough enough clean, or leave my cheeks feeling a bit dry & tight. This mild lotion is perfect for mornings when all I need to wash off is the previous night's sleeping pack, and it leaves my skin feeling baby soft - I've never had issues with dryness after cleansing with this. Depending on my mood, I'll either massage it on my face with fingers, or use my Foreo Luna Mini.

I find that it isn't great at removing makeup, especially if it's waterproof; I'd need to go over it again with another cleanser. Other than that, this is a solid choice for quick morning wash. It doesn't really have a fragrance, which is good if scented cleansers aren't your thing.

There are only 10 ingredients:
Water, dicaprylyl carbonate, propanediol, glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, 1,2-hexanediol, xanthan gum, sclerotium gum, sodium stearoyl glutamate, cetearyl glucoside

Innisfree Yummy Collagen With Jeju Soybean

Out of all the collagen supplements I've tried in the past, these Innisfree Yummy Collagen With Jeju Soybean sticks are by far the most delicious. Packaged in portable 12g sachets, they're perfect for carrying around too.

I've previously finished 3 boxes (21 sachets total), and have recently repurchased 5 more boxes from TesterKorea.

Each sachet contains 2000mg of marine collagen, and can be consumed either alone or diluted in water. Since they're so delicious (grape flavoured?), I prefer to drink straight from the sachet.

I've started my day with one sachet in the morning for the past three weeks, and to my surprise, have actually noticed a minor improvement in that my pores appear to be a tiny bit smaller and that my skin has more of a glow to it. Although the difference so far has only been very slight, at only 7,000 KRW per box (approx £4.50), these are much cheaper than most collagen supplements, so I'll continue to take them. In fact, I've just placed another order for more.

To save space, I've stashed the sachets in my Rilakkuma mini backpack :D

Innisfree products from TesterKorea

TesterKorea is my new go to place for Korean skincare/cosmetics. Granted, I only purchase Innisfree (paraben & mineral oil free brand) these days, but they are by far the cheapest with their 30% Innisfree discount. However, the trade off is that there's always a long wait for orders to be shipped.

This is my 3rd TesterKorea order, placed on February 14th, but it wasn't shipped till March 12th! According to their policy, if it takes longer than 7 business days for them to ship, they'll upgrade the order to EMS, which is exactly what happened with mine.

As far as I'm aware, TK has been backlogged with orders from the lunar new year, and the fact my order was pretty big probably didn't help either :p

Anyway, here's what I ordered:

Innisfree Face Designing Duo #01 Cozy Afternoon Sunlight
Innisfree Mineral Highlighter #09 Pink and #10 Starlight Gold
Innisfree Mineral Blusher #02 Pink - think I ordered the wrong shade though, I was not expecting it to look this pigmented!
Innisfree Soybean Firming Neck Cream
Innisfree Eco Science Wrinkle Spot Essence
Innisfree Green Tea Pure Gel Hand Cream - love Innisfree hand creams! They smell wonderful and are cheap too!
Innisfree Mineral Melting Foundation #Glow
Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion SPF34 PA++ #13 Light Beige
Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Nose Pack
Innisfree Camellia Essential Hair Oil Serum
9 x Innisfree Shadow Pencil - I got all of them except for #01 which I already own, so I now have a full set!
Innisfree Soy Lash Ampule - it's supposed to make your eyelashes longer & thicker
Innisfree Whitening Pore Eye Cream
Innisfree Whitening Pore Cream
Innisfree Whitening Pore Synergy Serum
Innisfree Whitening Pore Skin
5 boxes of Innisfree Yummy Collagen with Jeju Soybean (7 sachets per box) - most delicious and convenient collagen sticks. I've just finished 3 boxes, and will definitely be ordering more.

And as much as I appreciate samples, TesterKorea may have gone a little overboard this time by sending me 50 (!!!) sachets of Skin79 Super++ Beblish Balm Bronze... Since I never use bronzing products, these will just end up in the bin.
